How To: paper diamond decoration (English & Nederlands)



Papieren diamantjes hanger.
Hier is de eerste beschrijving van de Etsy #CraftParty 2015 in Leiden.

Materiaal: 
Papieren stroken. Voor een diamantje heb je een strook nodig waarvan de lengte 8x de breedte is. Dus bv als de strook 2.5 cm breed is, dan is de lengte minstens 20 cm. Of als de lengte 32 cm is (bv een atlas pagina), dan knip je hem op 1/8 dus 4 cm breed.
Dun touw en een lange naald.
Stokje / takje / grote sateprikker. Je kan ook een mobile maken door bv een oude borduurring te gebruiken.

Material: 
Paper strips: For 1 diamond  you need a paper strip of which the length 8 times the width. So if your width is 1 inch, than the length is at least 8 inch.
Thin thread and a long needle.
A stick or little branch. Or you can go circular with an old embroiderie ring.

Draai de strook om en vouw een hoekje van 45 graden. Vouw zig-zag tot dat je 7 diagonale (schuine) vouwen hebt
Draai de strook weer om met de goede kant boven.

Turn your strip and fold a corner at 45 degrees. Fold zig-zag until you have 7 diagonal folds. Turn the strip good side up.

Knip het puntje of op de 7e schuine vouw. Vouw alle diepe (rechte) vouwen de ander kant op, zodat alle vouwen naar buiten wijzen.

Cut the tip off on the 7th fold. Fold all deep creases the other way, to make all the folds point outwards.

Begin met het eerste vouwtje dat je maakte (met de rechte zijkant). Vorm een driezijdige piramide. De rest van de de strook kan je vanzelf er wikkelend omheen vouwen. Het laatste puntje steek je in.

Start with the corner where you made the first fold. Make a 3 sided piramid. The rest of the strip folds through wrapping it around. Tuck in the last pointy bit.

Je kan door de topjes van de papieren diamantjes met een lange naald een draad rijgen. Leg onder elk diamantje een knoopje om te voorkomen dat het naar beneden glijdt.


You can thread a needle through the tops of the paper diamonds. Make a not under each paper bead, to prevent it sliding down.

I treasure my interchangeable circular needles. They are easy for adding needle length when knitting large shawls. And you always have all needle size/length combinations at hand. My circular needle set is from KnitPro , but there are other brands who carry them, like HiyaHiya. The only size that didn't work for me was 3mm. The wooden tips kept breaking. Steel points are better for me when thin needles are required. But for everything 3.5mm and up I am very content with Knit Pro. DIY ear cushions for headphone / Crochet pattern

A couple of years ago I bought a Logitech Headset ClearChat Style. The set was a nice little price and perfect for Skype. And after a few years the headset still works fine. However I did get a problem with the soft ear cushions falling apart. "Easy to fix" I thought, I'll just buy some new ones. Alas: these are not available! A friendly guy at the electronic shop helped me trying if other brands would fit, but we couldn't find the right ones. So I got in touch with Logitech, asking which replacement ear cushions they would advice. But they couldn't advice beyond whether or not the warranty still would apply. I knew my purchase was too long ago for that. But I didn't want to discard a complete headset, just because I couldn't find new foamy ear cushions. Sew Along - Worlds End Drape Shirt - part 1

After coming across a post about Vivienne Westwood's Reading List I was browsing around on the WORLDS END SHOP blog and found an interesting free Do It Yourself pattern of the Drape Shirt . Enthusiastic I shared the link to Facebook friends. And now some friends are going to make it as well. Do you want to join in? Very important: do not mess up to order of the papers or you're screwed! Clear a floor space of 2x2 meter minimum. Start in the top left corner. Lay the first printed page down. Place the second under it. Continue till page 5. Then cut page 6. The lowest half of page 6 fits on the right side of page 1. See photo's: The arrows show where to connect the pages.
